Diversified Selected for 2018 Washington Building Congress Craftsmanship Award; Nominated for Star Award
January 19, 2018
The Washington Building Congress recognizes Diversified among other members of the building industry for excellence in workmanship.
ASHBURN, VA – Diversified, a global technology provider delivering innovative solutions and managed services to today’s leading markets, announces the Washington Building Congress (WBC) has awarded the company a 2018 Craftsmanship Award for its exceptional workmanship in Broadcast Systems at the United States Capitol, House of Representatives Chamber.
The WBC is a non-political association dedicated to building relationships with and among industry members, encouraging collaboration on best practices, and working together to advance the construction industry. The 1,000+ members represent diverse cross sections of the building industry, including: property owners and managers, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, realtors, architects, engineers, government officials, public utilities, accountants, manufacturer’s representatives, bankers, lawyers, bonding agents, labor unions, trade associations, consultants and virtually any other type of business with an interest in the industry.
“We are honored to have been chosen for this award and to stand among a list of highly respected organizations in our industry,” says Fred D’Alessandro, Diversified Chairman and CEO. “Our work at the Capitol is not only a representation of the outstanding capabilities of our team, but also our commitment to being the best at everything that we do.”
The legacy broadcast system in the U.S. Capitol, House of Representatives Chamber, included equipment from the early 2000s that was nearing the end of its useful life. To prevent unacceptable failure rates, The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) sought a new, upgraded system that reflected today’s industry standards. Having to work around Congress’s schedule and within the timeline established by AOC, Diversified’s craftsmen worked nights and weekends to make sure the job was done on time and on budget. Furthermore, with such prestige and visibility around the building itself, the pressure was on to make sure it was done right.
Diversified Regional Vice President, Michael Burnstein, adds, “I could not be prouder of our team and what they have accomplished. We were honored to be able to provide this prestigious landmark with an upgraded technology solution and to be recognized for our contributions to the project is a true testament to their hard work and dedication.”
The Capitol Broadcast System project has also been nominated for a WBC Star Award, a special honor that recognizes work demonstrating the highest level of quality, and exceeding the awards criteria to achieve a level defined as "Exceptional". Star Award nominees will be judged a second time in early February.
