Morgan State University recently opened a $72M Business Center and a $79M Behavioral and Social Sciences Center (BSSC), both state-of-the-art academic and research facilities made possible through partnership with the State of Maryland. The new buildings add almost 300,000 square feet of additional classroom, laboratory, and office space accommodating seven academic departments.
The new Business Complex features a Center for Innovation, a real-time Capital Markets stock trading center, seminar rooms, and a 299-person-capacity auditorium that includes an 80-person lecture hall. As such, Diversified was engaged to provide top-of-the-line electronic security and access control solutions to protect these new, leading edge University assets.
Diversified provided the University with access control systems, ensuring ADA compliance and seamless system integration. This multiple-phase electronic security and surveillance design integrates new classrooms and study spaces with the master security monitoring platform of the campus, using varying interoperable products such as CBORD, Honeywell Integrated Technical Security and Axis Communications. Diversified was involved in all aspects of both the business Complex and the BSSC from consultation, logistical planning and staging to the installation, programming and commissioning of cabling, conductors and overall peripheral system equipment.
As part of Diversified’s higher education portfolio, the Morgan State University campus expansion lends itself as a true testament to the multiple components that modern technology upgrades entail. Not only are students more equipped for advanced learning, but they can also rest assured the campus they call home is safely secured.
