Carpathia, a QTS Company, which provides web hosting services for government agencies and private enterprises, relocated its headquarters to Dulles Town Center. This new building quickly became its flagship data center known as “The Vault” and the organization needed to add 10,000 additional square-feet only one year after moving in. This secure, federally compliant building required state-of-the-art security to protect the valuable data that it houses from government clients such as DOD, FEMA and HHS.
Diversified was brought in to provide the data center expansion project a new security management system (SMS) to include access control via biometric readers and card readers as well as CCTV and intrusion alarm coverage. We installed biometric hand readers, new IP cameras and a laser curtain topper to expand the existing cages, all connected to and integrated with the SMS for maximum ease of use. The laser curtain topper acts as a virtual lid to the data cages, increasing the level of security with a grid pattern of sensors. Upon a security breach of the cage, the SMS signals an alert at the workstations logged on to the system. In addition, a small local sounder is activated within the cage area.
System expansion at The Vault is constantly underway to ensure that Carpathia security personnel are able to log and respond to any type of security breach. Diversified continues to support the data center, maintaining and upgrading their modern security systems as needed.
