The new Lake Nona Orlando VA Medical Center (OVAMC) features a large multispecialty outpatient clinic, 134-bed hospital, 120-bed community living center, a 60- bed domiciliary, and a chapel. To support the needs of the veterans, staff and faculty, Diversified was tasked to develop a consolidated media system including automated AV, media control, presentation systems, intelligent learning boards, digital video walls and building automation system that would conserve energy while maximizing the use of innovative and interactive technologies.
The new OVAMC needed to accommodate both presenter and patient needs in its special-purpose conference and training spaces, requiring that they meet applicable laws and regulations but also flexibility, portability and multi-purpose spaces and technologies. Once facility access was gained and the VA accepted each room as complete, installation needed to progress quickly; however a 12-month delay in access required an alternate plan. Diversified acquired local warehouse space so AV systems could be built and fully tested off-site, ready to install upon access, keeping the project on-schedule. Working closely with the GC and VA, Diversified executed the accelerated plan and met all contractual obligations in a timely manner.
Determined to enable communication and collaboration throughout the facility and across the campus, all conference and training rooms were equipped with Cisco Telepresence Codecs for HD video collaboration featuring multiple source connectivity and full transcoding Cisco MultiSite capability, large SMART LCD displays and a touch panel for intuitive room control. For optimized flexibility, the Auditorium is comprised of 7 individual spaces with a 4×4 video wall at its center. The chapel offers a projection system, wireless mics and wireless touch-panel control. Pendant speakers provide an effective, attractive audio solution in the space. The community living center has 8 open spaces with AV features for the veterans’ enjoyment.
The new technologically-enabled spaces are used constantly, with the support of and training from Diversified’s staff, resulting in an overwhelmingly positive success.
