From the very start, Skanska’s New York team saw the opportunity to renovate the United Nations’ (UN) Headquarters in Manhattan as a “must-win” project. Diversified saw this as an opportunity to complete a series of mission critical communication technology upgrades requiring a multi-disciplinary core of capabilities addressing the world values inherent in the UN mission. Diversified also saw the opportunity to expand its relationship with Skanska after recently completing the MetLife Stadium audio visual project.
Diversified was chartered to lead the integration and coordination of four separate scopes of work for mission critical communication technology upgrades. The solutions provider was the lead contractor for the broadcast infrastructure rebuild while also playing the role of integration partner to Sony for Media Asset Management and Taiden/Mediavision for conference microphone and simultaneous translation system integration and design. In addition, Diversified was the overarching coordination entity for the audio visual integration, completed by another local integrator.
Diversified coordinated with multiple trades, clients and consultants while simultaneously supervising nearly 100 Local 3 low voltage electricians. “It took hundreds of hours over several months before we really understood the project and the client’s concerns so we could devise the best approach,” stated Dave Schwarz, lead design engineer for the project. “The hours dedicated to design, project management and careful transition planning paid off with the timely completion of this exciting project,” adds Fabio Pansolini, Senior Vice President at Diversified.
