Woodrow Wilson High School

Keeping Students and Faculty Connected Through Comprehensive Classroom Media Systems

The use of technology in education today allows for innovative collaboration amongst students and faculty. Woodrow Wilson realized a need for upgraded technology as their classrooms were utilizing older technologies that hindered class discussion and interaction. The main auditorium’s sound and display system was less than satisfactory in performance, along with the schools Public Address (PA) system that is a one-way communication for the school. Lastly, the school needed a single location that controlled all classroom media systems.

The goal of improving communication and collaboration involved many moving pieces. To start, Diversified implemented a physical IP layer for a fortified network. We installed digital whiteboards, monitors and/or projectors in each classroom and throughout the facility. All digital whiteboard’s and common area displays are connected to an IPTV/CATV head-end, providing custom digital content. The solution for the auditorium included a sub-woofer and in-line speaker arrays, two large projection screens with projectors at the mezzanine level, and a 200” screen supporting the main auditorium. An all-digital control room integrates wired stage microphones, wireless microphones and a matrix control board.

Diversified designed a digital Media Control Center that supports all media outlets. This includes a live production studio, a video editing station, a full audio recording studio, and video teleconferencing. Finally, we connected the school with a facility-wide, bi-directional PA system in each classroom and strategic common area that integrates with the school’s Unified Communication System, clock and bell.

This implementation of cutting-edge technology allows teachers to leverage the latest in interactive teaching methods and foster a culture of collaboration in the classroom. The solution has resulted in a more productive and interactive school environment for both students and faculty.
