The Madison Square Garden (MSG) Arena underwent a comprehensive, top-to-bottom transformation that provided a significantly enhanced experience for clients, athletes, entertainers, fans, suite holders and partners from the first row to the last.
The project was completed in phases with three off-season shutdowns of the Arena, when the majority of the work was completed. Diversified was contracted to design and install the sound system, broadcast cabling, IPTV system, TV displays, and much, much more for the project referred to as MSG V.
Given the extremely condensed timeframe, most system integrators would shudder at the thought of how they could even attempt such a feat. Diversified rolled up its proverbial sleeves and presented to the management at MSG exactly how and what the solutions provider needed to do to successfully accomplish these tasks.
Over the summer, Diversified literally worked around the clock in triple shifts to keep in line with the other contractors who were demolishing, and immediately rebuilding, areas all over the Garden. Diversified's experience using BIM helped in coordinating with the other trades as demo/construction was performed rapidly throughout the facility.
In a short timeframe for this first dark summer, Diversified pulled and terminated about 2,331,000 feet of cable, mounted about 1,000 large LED screens, installed an IPTV headend, installed a truck dock cable headend, and installed about 1,000 speakers—to name some of the highlights.
