The Washington National Cathedral hosts a multitude of national religious ceremonies, regular weekly worship services and a wide variety of events serving the greater Washington, D.C. area. With the tremendous size of the Cathedral and the seated congregation in the Nave, an I-Mag video system was installed more than a decade ago. Although successfully serving the Cathedral for many years, the aging analog systems were routinely failing, with diminishing benefit to both the congregation and the Cathedral’s growing online community. The Cathedral was looking for a Video System Enhances Worship
Working closely with Cathedral staff, Diversified developed the Nave video upgrade project to replace the aged analog systems, upgrade to high definition video, improve the local worship experience, and significantly improve the quality of the Cathedral's online streaming services. The upgrade also included a new, highly flexible fiber infrastructure, enabling a broad range of camera and display positions throughout the Nave, delivering dramatically improved coverage of both regular and special events each year.
Key to the success of this project was Diversified's unique ability to seamlessly integrate modern video technology into the gorgeous and historic architecture of the Cathedral Nave. Through a series of progressive design refinements, the Cathedral and Diversified team were able to meet the lofty operational and aesthetic goals for the new video systems. Their determined collaboration delivered a powerful, yet low profile, HD video system for the Cathedral’s rapidly growing production requirements.
With rave reviews from both staff and the congregation, Diversified helped the Cathedral leverage the best of today’s leading-edge video technology and is receiving exceptionally positive feedback from the Cathedral’s expanding online viewing community. They’re simply loving it!
