Founded in 1924, the Petersham RSL Club has been a community hub providing entertainment and a social environment for almost 100 years. Nearing its centenary, the club set out on a major redevelopment of its new location where it was to receive a complete redesign and an additional three new residential towers above. This project aimed to provide an elegant and seamlessly low-profile technology integration with high-performance upgrades to ensure it best serviced its growing patron base with special events and premium user experiences well into the future.
Diversified were engaged by the architect as a trusted audio visual technologies consultant in the planning stage, having successfully delivered projects in Sydney with them previously. Through this process Diversified were able to take the intricacies of the project plans, provide expert recommendations, and create a custom fit-for-purpose audio visual integrations design for the RSL to best take advantage of the spaces being built.
Following this consultative process with the RSL, architects, builders and technology partners, the project was put out to tender where Diversified was sought out as the integrator to bring this upgrade to life, ensuring simplicity and user-friendly collaborative capabilities were prioritised to produce a flexible, consistent and scalable solution for the club.
Diversified was able to use its intimate knowledge of the project plans to fit out the new development spaces efficiently and cost effectively, overcoming the logistical and resourcing challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and a bout of unseasonal flooding in the region.
Flexibility and ease of use were always front of mind for Diversified when designing this solution. High quality and managed Exterity IPTV installations and Samsung Smart Signage displays were used to allow any content to be displayed on any screen throughout. Q-Sys PA/DSP, Shure ULX-D microphones and L-Acoustics installed sound systems were fitted throughout the bar spaces, courtyard, spa, restaurants, function spaces, meeting rooms and entertainment spaces to allow users to plug and play without specialist equipment. Public safety and accessibility were also a high priority as part of Diversified’s design, with a public address/background music network system being paired with a WiFi hearing augmentation system which allows all staff and patrons to be alerted to any important information as necessary.
Since the club’s grand re-opening in mid-2022 it has seen strong patronage and plenty of positive feedback from members, showing Diversified’s flexible and scalable solution has helped set up the RSL to serve its community for many years to come.
