TV News Check: NBCU Takes the IP Plunge in Boston

Diversified Integrates IP Technology for NBCUniversal’s All-New ST 2110-Compliant Media Facility in Boston

The recent opening of NBCUniversal’s (NBCU) Boston Media Center in Massachusetts marks the company’s third major IP technology-based media facility, following the WCAU-WWSI duopoly within the Comcast Technology Center in Philadelphia and Telemundo in Miami.

Diversified, one of the pioneer IP technology solutions providers in the broadcast industry who is successfully implementing IP-based solutions like these across the globe, was the primary integrator on this project from start to finish.

The $125 million, 160,000-square foot headquarters unites NBCU’s four businesses in the market in one location and on one common technology platform.

“We think the collaboration, with everyone all in the same space, will result in just a better product for everybody,” says Mike St. Peter, president and GM of WBTS-WNEU and NECN. “I think that’s what’s cool about this place. Sports and news, Spanish language, all working in one general area, will allow for a lot more sharing of ideas and creativity.”
