New Media Operations Center Welcomes Bally Sports to Atlanta
Diversified helps deliver new future-proofed media operations center to serve as hub for Sinclair’s RSNs
After its $9.6B purchase of 21 Fox RSNs and Fox College Sports from Disney two years ago, Sinclair’s next challenge was to determine where their new hub would be located, build the supporting facility and rebrand its new sports arm as “Bally Sports”—all simultaneously and under a major time crunch.
“What Fox had built over a 15-year period, we had to recreate in two years, from scratch,” said Del Parks, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Sinclair.
Partnering with Imagine, Encompass and Diversified, Sinclair set out to build a new SMPTE 2110 facility, now in the commissioning process. Focused on making the new facility as future-proofed as possible to accommodate industry advances, the technical core consists of 84 racks with the latest IP equipment throughout 40 control rooms, supervisor pods and offices.
