New Melbourne W Hotel Welcomes Guests with Innovative Technology

Diversified delivers fully integrated AV infrastructure, enhancing the luxury hotel experience.

As travel—both business and leisure—resume for many, Melbourne’s new W Hotel is leveraging AV technology to offer an exciting guest experience for discerning visitors, officially opening its doors in January 2021. With the goal of delivering a luxury hotel experience for expectant guests, it was critical that the technology was concealed to avoid interruption of the flow of the space while still ensuring impact and functionality.

“The W insisted that the AV technology had to blend in seamlessly and natively within the interior design so as not to distract the eye in any manner,” says Vivek Arya, UT Consulting. “[It] amplified the expectation that a technological design not only needed to be completely integrated within the architecture; it also needed to be easy to operate from the hotel’s perspective, while providing a very high level of functionality and reliability.”

Diversified was brought in to deliver the hotel’s complete AV technology infrastructure—from event spaces to the fitness facilities to the hotel’s luxurious Extreme Wow Suite. They even designed and engineered a custom interactive music station to delight and engage guests of the exclusive suite.

“Although [Diversified] has worked on large hospitality projects including Crown and the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, we are perhaps not as renowned for our work in this sector,” comments Adam Fandert, senior field engineer for Diversified. “However, we draw upon and apply our extensive experience from our works in corporate facilities, government institutes, healthcare and sports stadiums such as the MGC and Optus Stadium… It was our mission to deliver a discreet, yet intuitive, easy to use AV system.”
