Diversified Helps NBC broadcast the Rio Olympics

As the Olympic Games enthrall us in Rio, a momentous effort goes on behind the scenes to broadcast the games in all their glory. Diversified was proud to help build the studio for NBC Sports that now brings every Olympic moment into your home.

Diversified  was chosen as the broadcast integrator for this project which was completed in December 2012. For Diversified, the project expanded the existing relationship with both NBC and Comcast in successfully managing their growth in sports and entertainment.

“This new campus is about bringing people together to maximize production, creativity and efficient teamwork,” stated Mark Lazarus, Chairman of NBC Sports Group.

The 32-acre site, located in Stamford, CT, includes office space for NBC Sports, NBC Olympics, NBC Sports Digital, NBC Sports Network (formerly VERSUS), and the Comcast Sports Management Group, which oversees the NBC Sports Group’s 14 regional networks.

Dave Mazza, Senior Vice President at NBC Sports Olympics, assessed the site for television production. He has worked on designing and building temporary broadcast centers for 10 Olympic games. The Stamford location, Mazza noted, was ideal for its easily accessible location as well as its physical characteristics.

In June 2012, when NBC won a $4.38 billion bid to carry four more Olympic Games from 2014 to 2020, the plan for one studio grew into an idea for six, along with 50 editing rooms.
