Public Address And Iptv System Integration Provides Foundation For Airport Communications

When Perth Airport expanded Terminal One, their Domestic Terminal, Diversified was engaged by building contractors, Built Environs to design, supply and install a new PA system and IPTV technology — two vital components of an airport’s audio visual infrastructure, underpinning passenger safety, communication and entertainment.

The PA system was a stand-alone system within the greater universe of Perth Airport. Diversified was required to interface the new system to the existing Terminal One head-end. A Biamp Vocia DS-10 was installed and connected, via fiber connection, between communications rooms. The DS-10 has wall and desk-mounted paging microphones to distribute all recorded and live voice messages, as well as other audible signals—both routine and emergency.

Additionally, Diversified designed and installed an IPTV technology system comprised of 90 IPTV set top boxes, BrightSign digital signage players and more than 90 LCD screens—all with custom mounting. In addition to flight information, the LCD monitors display digital signage, prerecorded video and television including full HD channels from free-to-air television, digital television and Foxtel (cable TV) to all or selected screens.

Crucially, the PA and IPTV systems interface with the Emergency Warning Information System (EWIS) so that, if required, EWIS can override all audio and video systems during an emergency.

Diversified delivered resourceful and advanced audio visual systems for Perth Airport—systems that are the foundation of the Airport’s communication with passengers day in and day out.
