Dual Video Wall Installation & Presentation System for Divisible Conference Room

The College of Nurses of Ontario is the governing body for registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs) and nurse practitioners (NPs) in Ontario, Canada. The College sought to incorporate a Dual Video Wall Presentation System within a divisible conference room on campus that was both aesthetically pleasing and easy to use.

The conference room itself is far from ordinary, as the large space is divisible with a retractable air wall at the center. When the College prefers to use two small rooms instead of one large room, the air wall divides the space in half. When fully closed, each side acts as an independent entity that operates as a standalone room.

At the beginning of the engagement, a College representative visited Diversified’s showroom in Toronto where they streamed their own content on multiple display options to assess the benefits of each and find which one met their needs. Eventually, the representative selected a Plasma, ultra-thin bezel solution that would make up two, 2 x 2 video walls on either side of the space.

Additionally, the Diversified team installed two Sharp 80” displays back-to-back against the air wall. Each retracts from the ceiling on motorized lifts when the air wall is present. When the wall divides to two rooms, the College has two displays in each—a larger video wall for content, and an extra display if they’d like to show a separate visual.

To control the content on all four displays, Diversified installed a Crestron Integrated Control System comprised of two 10.1” touch panels. When the air wall comes down, the touch panel controls the two closest displays; when the air wall is up, one touch panel controls the content across all four displays simultaneously.
